Tackling Nutrition, FitQuest Style Part 2

Sugary foods, refined grains, and dairy are just a few examples of nutrition options that can lead to negative mental health effects. To show how food can negatively impact your mental health, we look to Rebecca Clay in her article examining the link between mental health and food. She used research from 10 different countries and noticed how traditionally unhealthy eating patterns resulted in people in the study experiencing negative mental health-related conditions. At the same time, the studies supported that healthier dietary practices, such as eating more veggies and fruit and less sugar-rich foods, can result in feelings of mental wellness. When making small to large changes in their diets, the subjects even reported feeling more positive and happier because their bodies felt better. Read more into Clay’s Observations in her article here.

Next week, we will continue this discussion, and focus on one of our most important FitQuest topics: the MyPlate!
