Mini-Hawk-Flight Field Day

Last October 2019, the Foundation teamed up with the Shady Creek Naturalist staff, the Yuba City Kiwanis team and the Early Risers Kiwanis team for the Mini-Hawk-Flight field day at Franklin School. This event included lunch, naturalist led music programs, team building games, Fit Quest educational segments, an investigation station, and a special birds program featuring one of Shady Creek’s very own raptors! We provided this event for four schools in our area whose trips were unfortunately cut short the year prior. Our goal was to bring Shady Creek to them and everyone involved had an amazing experience.

These students had all participated in our Fit Quest program, sponsored by Sutter Health locally, and then missed or had their trip to Shady Creek cut short. Even though they were now in 7^th grade it was a

great way to fill out their Shady Creek experience.

Then Covid-19 arrived and another group of now 7^th graders missed out on Shady Creek and likely Fit Quest, the Foundation and Sutter Health both want to offer as many as possible, thru their current class to have both a Virtual Week of Outdoor Program, and a collaboration of funding with their Fit Quest program.
